November – Personal Action Month

November is Personal Action Month at the Campus Environmental Center! This means taking personal and individual responsibility for environmentally sustainable living. In our last meeting, Michael from the Orange Bike Project taught us more about bicycle road safety and some basic maintenance tips; it was very helpful!

For the Fall 2013 semester, the Orange Bike Project is open Mondays 2pm-5pm, Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30pm-6:30pm, and Saturdays 10am-1pm.

The upcoming CEC meeting on November 13th will be centered around America Recycles Day and preparing for that! America Recycles Day will be happening on Friday, November 15th in Gregory Plaza (almost) all day!

During the November 20th meeting, we will be hosting a sustainable gift making workshop with Austin Creative Re-use – right on time for the upcoming holidays! Our last meeting for the semester will be held on December 4th, where we will be having a delicious Potluck.

Not only do we have a number of exciting meetings coming up, but we also have a plethora of interesting events coming soon! Besides America Recycles Day, we will be having Tailgate Recycling on November 16th and on Thanksgiving. It’s always a joy to see how much good that Tailgate Recycling does! We’re very fortunate to have such active students and staff members at UT that even our football games can be made more environmentally conscientious.

On November 23rd, we will be having a wonderful Bastrop Tree Planting event! We have a carpool leaving from Littlefield Fountain at 7:45am. It’s a joy to see how much happening at the CEC, especially all of the great work that is being done to help communities and the environment. Check out this article on the previous bastrop tree planting events!
